Before & After School

Seventy-five years ago, founder Helen Towles Rohan closed every day by ringing the school’s hand bell. Today, we still ring that bell. Tarnished a bit by age perhaps, but poignant for the tradition it represents. Because the honor of ringing the bell goes not to the head master, but a Sixth Grade student who has earned the privilege. It is a symbol of the personal responsibility our students learn through their years here — a right of passage that signals their readiness for new adventure in life. Confident, and filled with passion for the future.
